Are you a parent of a Jewish child? Then please accept this personal invitation to a free workshop.
Janet Harris, director of Early Education and Family Learning at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center of San Rafael, and I – Karen Kushner of Project Welcome – invite parents of children up to age five to Baby is a Blessing: Parenting Jewish Children, a three-session workshop on Jewish rituals and traditions that welcome and guide your relationship with your child. It will be held at the Osher Marin JCC, February 13, 20 and 27, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Jewish and interfaith parents, single, LGBT, intercultural and interracial, and adoptive parents are all invited. Among other things, you will create a customized blessing for your child, learn how to teach your child an ethical system and learn how to talk about holiness/spirituality to children of all ages.

If you are looking for a class, how about: Prayer and Prayers: Getting Comfortable with the Shabbat Morning Service beginning on Sunday, February 4, 10:30-11:45 a.m. at Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon. No Hebrew knowledge is required, so don’t hesitate to come and learn. Call 415-388-1818 to sign up.
Congregation Rodef Sholom’s Torah on the Trails is a monthly opportunity to combine learning and the great outdoors. It’s held the third Saturday of the month (February 17 this month) at 8:30 a.m. Meet in the parking lot of Rodef Sholom in San Rafael to hike and learn. Everyone is welcome.
