A Freedom Seder for Darfur is slated for Tuesday, March 20, 6:30 p.m., at the Osher Marin JCC.  The annual Seder is sponsored by Jewish Community Relations Council to celebrate multi-cultural traditions of the struggle for justice and freedom.  Rabbi Stacy Friedman of Congregation Rodef Sholom and Rev. Anthony Jenkins of Calvary United Methodist Church will co-lead the Seder.  Contact the Marin JCRC at 415-472-5128 or sberns@jcrc.org for details.

Congregation Kol Shofar of Tiburon has two worship opportunities that especially welcome those new to Judaism. Shir Chadash, a joyful, spirited musical Shabbat service, is held on the first Friday night of the month; and Tot Shabbat, held on the first Saturday morning of the month at 11:30 a.m., is a fun-filled mini-service for those with young children, with singing, dancing, prayer, a parade of stuffed Torahs and Kiddush (reception). Contact Kol Shofar at 415-388-1818 for information.

Congregation Rodef Sholom hosts a family-friendly (but not just for kids) Shabbat service in the Mill Valley Community Center, on the third Friday at 6 p.m. The service is a musical, informal, and participatory experience where everyone is welcome. Think of it as an opportunity to create a personal spiritual experience in a modern Jewish community. In other words, no matter your age or background, you can learn (or cultivate) what it means for you to pray.  Bring your friends and family and dinner and stay afterwards to eat with this warm, haimish (down-to-earth) community.  Additional space available for children who pray through play; free babysitting now available! Contact Kim Press at pressfamily@hotmail.com if you would like to participate in the potluck dinner.

Rodef Sholom also hosts a Tot Shabbat at the San Rafael synagogue each month. It is led by Jonathan Bayer, an early childhood music teacher with extensive experience in leading services for families and children.  Enjoy Tot Shabbat with plushy Torahs, tons of guitar, unbridled dancing and praying, and cookies!  This service welcomes grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and of course, parents.
