Reform Congregation Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa moves into its new home on April 29 and in May, will inaugurate a new series to introduce interfaith families to the congregational community.  The classes, lectures, concerts and children’s programs are designed to provide meaningful and compelling ways to engage in Jewish life, build Jewish identity, and connect to Jewish tradition.  Most of the events in the series are free and are open to anyone.

More than half the members of Shomrei Torah and the majority of children enrolled in religious school are part of interfaith households.

Among the spring offerings are Pathways to Judaism, a Monday night series in four parts beginning May 7, taught by Rabbi George Gittelman.  Sessions include God Talk, The Ethical Way, Repairing the world, and Shabbat and Holiday Experiences.

Additional events include Tot Shabbat Workshop: Celebrating Shabbat (for you and your kids) on Sunday, May 20; Demystifying Shabbat (for adults) on Friday, May 25; and Rabbi Joe Black in Concert on Sunday, May 27.

Information and registration is available at www.shomreitorah.org or by phoning the synagogue at 707-578-5519.

The programs are made possible by a grant from the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
