Chanukah is around the corner and so is Christmas. What choices will you make about what your family observes, where and with whom? If you would like to just think out loud about your feelings and desires, please give me a call. There are no right or wrong feelings; you feel what you feel. Let’s see if you can’t make things work for you and your loved ones.
If you have basic questions about celebrating Chanukah, are looking for a community celebration or perhaps the perfect latke recipe, we have two wonderful resources available. Jewish Community Information & Referral (JCI&R) answers all kinds of questions. I turn to them when I hit a wall. You can too.
You can visit the JCI&R holiday website – www.jholidays.org or call 415.777.4545, toll-free 877.777.5247 or email jewishnfo@sfjcf.org. JCI&R staff Gail and Judy and their volunteers are the mavens of all things Jewish in the Bay Area. Try them for information about connecting to Jewish life here or in more distant communities too (for example, they recently helped me with resources in Sacramento).
Jewish Community Information & Referral is a free service of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties.
Need help with any of these suggestions? Call me. I have lots of ideas.
