If you’re not members of a congregation, Hillel at Stanford offers a variety of options for observing the High Holidays. Under the leadership of Rabbi Mychal Copeland, Reform/Reconstructionist, Conservative and Orthodox services all will be held throughout Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Rabbi Copeland and cantorial soloist/guitarist Dr. Yossi Chajes will lead Reform/Reconstructionist services with singing and prayer in Hebrew and English at Dinkelspiel Auditorium.

Rabbi Patricia Karlin-Neumann and cantorial soloist Yoav Schlesinger will lead Conservative services, mainly in Hebrew, at Kresge Auditorium.

Hillel is partnering with the Jewish Study Network and Chabad for Orthodox services.

There is a necessary charge for services, says Rabbi Copeland, because Hillel must cover its costs. For details on services, visit the group’s website, http://hillel.stanford.edu.

Along with Stanford students, Hillel welcomes community members to their various educational, cultural and religious activities, notes Rabbi Copeland. She works with many interfaith couples, whether married or considering marriage, and says the group is offering “more and more” classes.

Hillel at Stanford is located at The Harold and Libby Ziff Center for Jewish Life, Taube Hillel House, 565 Mayfield Avenue, at the corner of Campus Drive and Mayfield.
